There are certain thresholds for orders or Projects that govern how an Agency Buyer can purchase:
- The micro-purchase threshold (FAR 2.101) is currently at $10,000 (as of October 2021) — A federal buyer can purchase without competition up to this threshold, typically through a Government Purchase Card.
- The simplified acquisition threshold (FAR Case 2018-004) is currently at $250,000 — A federal buyer can purchase with competition, through a Simplified Acquisition method (such as the Multiple Award Schedule program).
